Pruqo
FAQ

Fair asks, straight answers

The full version of the home-page accordion: how Pruqo works, how it makes money, what it covers, and where the hard lines are. If your question isn’t here, the methodology and the Trust Charter go deeper.

Is Pruqo really free?

Yes — verdicts, swaps, and best prices are free forever. Pruqo earns a commission when you buy through a link. A paid tier later adds monitoring and deep-research reports, never the core verdict.

Where do the scores come from?

Public evidence: EWG, the NIH supplement label database, Open Food Facts, FDA recall feeds, and certification bodies like NSF and USP. Every flag links to its source, and the scoring rubric is published.

Do commissions change the ranking?

No. Retailers are sorted by price, picks are ranked by evidence, and commission influence on rank is zero — it’s a code-reviewable invariant, not a promise.

Is this medical advice?

No. Pruqo is ingredient transparency and price intelligence. Anything that touches your health — interactions, conditions, dosing — gets a flag and a “ask your pharmacist,” never a prescription.

How can all of this be free — what’s the catch?

There isn’t one hiding in the fine print: the business is affiliate commerce. When you buy through a Pruqo link, the retailer pays a commission out of its own margin — you pay the same price either way. Free users are the business, not the product. Two things are never traded to make that work: rank (never for sale) and your data (never sold). The full rules live in the Trust Charter.

What categories does Pruqo cover?

Supplements and personal care first: prenatal vitamins, protein powders, sunscreen, deodorant, kids’ vitamins, and moisturizers. That’s the wedge — clean CPG, where the research burden is highest and the evidence is strongest. Expansion is deliberate: one category at a time (sports and fitness gear is next), and only once the current shelf is served well.

Does Pruqo cover medications?

Prescription drugs: no, and not later either — that line is permanent. Over-the-counter products come eventually, as medicine-cabinet transparency: inactive ingredients, dyes, contamination recalls, and the best price. Never dosing, never treatment advice. Anything touching interactions produces a flag that says “ask your pharmacist.”

A product I use isn’t in the catalog — how do I submit it?

Two photos — the front of the product and the ingredient label. The pipeline scores it, a public verdict page goes live within 24 hours, and if you leave an email you get the link. Every miss becomes a new verdict, which is exactly how the catalog grows. (On this preview, submissions aren’t live yet — everything shown is demo data.)

What is Pruqo+?

The paid tier — depth and automation on top of the free core, never instead of it. Pruqo+ adds monitoring agents that watch what you own (price drops, restocks, recalls, and quiet reformulations — brands change ingredient lists without announcing it) and deep-research reports: cited, study-linked write-ups of a product and its alternatives. The verdict, the cleaner swap, and the best price stay free forever.

What happens when a product is recalled or reformulated?

The score moves with the evidence. Recall feeds are ingested continuously, and label diffs catch quiet reformulations against the cached copy of what the label used to say. When a score changes, the verdict page shows the current evidence — not the score you remember.

I have color-vision deficiency — can I trust the verdict colors?

You never have to rely on them. Every verdict is redundantly encoded: a numeric score, a distinct icon shape (✓✓, ✓, !, ✕), a text label, and a lightness step — never color alone. The four bands are checked against CVD simulators, and text contrast targets WCAG 2.2 AA in both themes.
